The Durbanville region is one of the popular wine regions in the Western Cape.
A wine rich region between Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Durbanville Hills is a fantastic place to get out on the bike for a day. With loads of farms boasting wonderful off-road trails and tours, this area is both beautiful and exciting. A great way to spend a weekend, farm land routes and excellent South African wines make for an experience worth the time. A quiet area where you can immerse yourself in the natural splendor of the Cape, the rolling hills and endless vineyards make for one of the most picturesque biking experiences around. Looking out over the surrounding valleys, Table Mountain rising up from the distance, this place is perfect for a day out on the bike. With a number of races and routes in the region, including the starting point of the renowned Absa Cape Epic, Durbanville Hills is ideal for any mountain bike enthusiast.

DURBANVILLE HILLS
Stages
Day 1-Blouberg to Contermanskloof and Hoogekraal (45km, ascent 650m)
Ride from Eden on the Bay, Bloubergstrand head towards the Durbanville Hills. Do loop of Contermanskloof and cross the road to Hoogekraal. Climb Hoogekraal and descend via the Cobra. Return to Eden on the Bay for a coffee.
Day 2-Contermanskloof, Meerendal, Contermanskloof (50km, ascent 600m)
Start from the shed at the the foot of Contermanskloof, climb to the mask, do a loop of the mountain and then head across to Meerendal to ride the stairway to heaven summiting Dorst Berg ( Thirsty Mountain). Descend and return to the Shed at the foot of Contermanskloof.
Day 3- Bloemendal, Hillcrest and Magic Forest, Contermanskloof (55km, ascent 650m)
Do loop of Bloemendal, Hillcrest through the Magic Forrest to Contermanskloof and return for coffee at Bloemendal.
Day 4-Meerendal, Hoogekraal and Contermanskloof (60 km, ascent 650m)
Ride the iconic single track of Meerendal, climb to the top of Hoogekraal and then to the top of Contermanskloof through the vines and return to coffee and wine shop at Meerendal.
Day 5-Table Mountain and Signal Hill (50 km, ascent 550m)
Ride from the Point Gym, Green Point to Camps Bay, up the Glen and spend the day riding the trails on Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Descend to the waterfront for coffee.
Day 6- Flexible Day Activity
This day is flexible depending on group. Non cycling activities could be considered. E.g. City Tour, Mountain Hike, Wine Tour
